I recently ran into this error when reconnecting a disconnected host to vCenter:
The error message stated:
Permission to perform this operation was denied. You do not hold privilege “System > View” on folder”"
Error Stack
Call “Datacenter.QueryConnectionInfo” for object “DATACENTERNAME” on vCenter Server “myhost.mydomain” failed.
Luckily, the resolution is straight forward. If you come across this error it is likely that you have lockdown mode enabled on your ESXi host. If that is the case, log onto the DCUI of the host and disable lockdown mode. Once this is done you should be able to reconnect the host in vCenter.
