How to Access ESXi DCUI over SSH

We’re familiar with the DCUI on a VMWare ESXi host (for those who aren’t its the Black and Yellow console you use for initially configuring your ESXi host, amongst other things, otherwise known as the Direct Console User Interface). But did you know you can access the DCUI when connected to the host via SSH? This was news to me so I tried it out.

If you connect to your host via SSH and type the command dcui, you will be presented with a black and white version of the familiar DCUI:

I’m not entirely sure of it’s practical use, but it’s interesting nonetheless.
